About the role

Reporting to the Head of Front-End, and working closely with the delivery team, you’ll be responsible for completing projects end-to-end independently, with occasional help from other engineers over a wide array of exciting projects & clients.

We use a wide range of tools & languages in our work, which we’re constantly reviewing, democratically, to ensure that we’re using the right tool for the job, rather than defaulting to the trends.

It’s important we’re writing performant, accessible, cross-platform, responsive front-end code. Testing is a large part of our workflow; our excellent QA engineers search for & ticket bugs and we review each others’ code to support each other. You’ll also have an opportunity to learn about automated testing so that bugs are found really efficiently and we can have a high level of confidence in the quality of the work we’re creating.

We understand the importance of supporting you in your role. We run workshops for collaborative learning, have professional development days scheduled each month and run quarterly hack days for you to learn & hone new skills. You’ll have the opportunity to attend events (or host them if you’d like!) and conferences and have the opportunity to pass your knowledge on to young engineers in our academy too.

About You

We’re looking for a bright, keen, motivated front-end web engineer with a strong skill level and a desire to learn new and existing web technologies.

The ideal candidate should be able to write clean, reusable code, and be keen to expand their skill set within a company that has been enjoying rapid growth for the past eight years.

Skills & Experience we’d like you to have:

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML5, CSS, SASS
  • Excellent knowledge of JavaScript
  • Experience of ViteJS, Gulp or Webpack
  • Experience integrating with server-side code (such as PHP) to produce dynamic pages
  • Experience with Responsive Web Builds
  • Experience using Figma / Sketch / Photoshop
  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git, SVN
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility work
  • Good understanding of Web Accessibility
  • Experience with CSS frameworks like Tailwind

Things that’d blow us away:

  • Experience with React.js
  • Experience writing Unit tests/TDD
  • Knowledge of testing tools like Ghost inspector/Cypress
  • Knowledge of PHP and Laravel
