We’re delighted to announce the launch of a brand and e-commerce overhaul for Retro Spectacle.
Retro Spectacle is an e-commerce brand selling vintage glasses and sunglasses online. The business was established when the founders started getting access to rare and unique stock from all over the world and they needed a platform to sell it on. Little did they know how fast it would take off with demand quickly forcing them to ramp up supply.
Buying prescription glasses is a fairly complex process, made harder without a physical retail optician to help. There are many considerations from lenses to style and size to factor in when deciding on a new pair. Understanding this we shaped the proposition around offering easy access and incredibly personalised support by professional opticians combined with the efficiency of a self-serve e-commerce experience enabling them to sell top brands at very reasonable prices.
We started with a comprehensive brand overhaul retaining the name that was working well. We got to understand the values and purpose of the brand before applying a new design and tone of voice to get this across to customers. The brand needed a home so we built a customised Shopify store to effectively present the products and provide valuable information to give customers peace of mind. We made understanding lenses and managing prescriptions easy with storytelling animations and informative content. Paying for product is easy with Klarna and Shopify’s own ShopPay built-in.
We’d taken our online presence as far as we could. Our customer base and order volumes had grown over the past couple of years but it was time to seek help from professionals. We engaged Parallax Agency to carry out a full brand re-launch including a new website and social strategy. Impressed by their creativity and enthusiasm we kicked things off.
Parallax were very easy to work with, using collaboration tools we had daily dialogue with our account manager and designers. We’re particularly pleased with how Parallax brought our prescription lens offering to life through a series of cool animations. Your vision is so important and its a complex issue but we feel we now have content that’s clear, informative and authoritative, which helps our customers and potential customers trust us.
It’s early days but the initial signs are very promising. Fresh orders are coming through thick and fast with customers confidently purchasing eyewear online, increasingly so as retail opticians are having to close due to Covid-19.
